What brought you to WCSC in the first place?
My health, I was in bad shape both physically and mentally. I was over weight and although I had access to a traditional gym, for me it was the same old story, I didn’t have the motivation to work out. I always had an excuse, wether it was my work schedule or some sort of injury, I always justified those excuses.
I knew I needed to make a change but had never taken any action. By chance I happened to see an ad for a new you six week challenge and decided to give it a try. I had no idea what the challenge entailed, I had no idea what CrossFit was, I did not know what to expect, however in my mind I was determined to make a change to better my health, I thought how hard could this be.
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
My first impression was, wow this is intimidating, there is no way I’m going to last. I was nervous and afraid that I was going to hurt myself. I thought, I can barley lift any weight, am I going to look rediculous working out with veteran members.
That quickly changed as everyone, coaches and members were all encouraging and motivating. It doesn’t matter what level or scale you are at, the work that you put in is for yourself. I realized that no matter how intimidating the work out looks, I can do it and I can keep improving.
How has WCSC made your life better
WCSC is now a part of my lifestyle. It got me out of my funk, no excuses. I’ve been going 3x a week for a year and half now and don’t plan on changing that. I’m healthy, I’m in the best shape I have ever been in and I feel strong. I have gained Mental toughness, when your body thinks it’s done and you want to give up, I realized that I can still get more reps in.
